Did you tell them you're not dead yet?
I wonder what fooled them into thinking we were? :) Maybe it was our lazy dog sleeping in the sun... NOT the guard-dog!
So... Kito was sleeping and Pepper was being useful?
My first thought was those vultures in the Jungle Book. "Now don't start that again!"
