THE DECKER DISPATCH
December 2007

From Darkness Into Light
“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined.” (Isaiah 9:2)

A colleague of ours in Senegal recently shared about a friend of hers that has heard of Jesus and the Gospel many times, but does not understand. This colleague reports that they have the same conversations repeatedly, yet for this woman the words seem to not even register at all. “It’s as if her ears are literally made deaf,” our colleague reports. We all begin our lives in darkness and, until God intervenes, there we remain. We are so thankful that God has sent his son to bring light into the darkness!

From Minnesota to Senegal
We long to return to Senegal as scheduled on January 7th to continue our work as part of the team sharing the light of Christ in West Africa. We recently wrote of our support needs, and we’re glad to report some exciting responses. We’ve received over $2,000 in one-time gifts. Our monthly support has taken a few steps forward and a few steps back. We’ve agreed to a modification in our budget that reduces our monthly need by $400. The remaining one-time need is $12,700; the remaining monthly need is $2,495.

On December 15th we will make a final decision concerning our January 7th departure. Please continue to pray that the Lord would move in such a way that these needs would be met. If you are interested in partnering with us financially, please contact us.

From Heaven to Earth
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end…” (Isaiah 9:6-7)

We extend our warmest Christmas greetings to all of you, as together we “…proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” (I Peter 2:9)

Proclaiming his excellencies,
Dave and Mary
