January 25: Update

Dear friends,
We are so thankful for your prayers and encouragement! Enough support has been committed that we will be able to keep our tickets for January 29! Please pray for us as we pack up the house where we've been living, and prepare to leave for Senegal on Tuesday!

Missionary life is a life full of paradox. We have been praying for our support and wishing to return to Dakar. At the same time, it means saying goodbye to family and friends here, and leaving Danny and Joey on this continent while we shift our lives over to the other one. It's great, and it's difficult, all at the same time!

Here's a reading from "Daily Light" which has been an encouragement to me this week:

O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you; I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, plans formed of old, faithful and sure.—The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.—You hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.—For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name.—The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.

Please pray for us as we pack, and spend time with family and friends in these next few days. We look forward to updating you from Senegal!
Blessings and love,
Mary
