Wednesday May 16: update

What are the Decker family members up to?

Dave: Is catching up on work after his trip to Liberia.Working with Mark T. on the bookkeeping system, which Mark will be responsible for while we are on home assignment.Working on budget and policy as needed for WAFA, trying to get everything in excellent shape before we leave! He (along with the rest of us!) has been frustrated with the lack of electricity; we are having power cuts several times each day—sometimes 10 hours at a stretch. Sometimes our batteries last long enough to get done what we need to get done… and sometimes they don’t!

Mary: finished my classes on May 10!I’m thankful to be done, and for a break next semester—but I loved the class and loved studying the material. It was very interesting and very helpful to me.

Danny:found out the college he was expecting to attend wasn’t accepting transfer students with less than 60 credits, he is short of that. He was bummed out, but then found out about another smaller college near where he is living that looks like it might be even better for him. He’s applied, the FAFSA is done, and we’re awaiting the acceptance and financial aid package! He is planning to come up to Minnesota in July, and spend some time with us—and we are so looking forward to that!!

Joey: He left on Monday for Northern Ireland, and should have arrived early Tuesday morning. We haven’t heard from him, and don’t really expect to hear from him—but we are praying that he and his rugby teammates have a great time building relationships and ministering to those they meet in N. Ireland.

Jacob: working diligently on his school work. He is really enjoying a geometry class project he’s working on—designing and constructing a model of a theme park/amusement park. He is very creative and I enjoy watching him at work. He doesn’t seem to mind being the only son at home for the moment, but is looking forward to time with his brothers at home with us in the summer!
